3-3.5 starsThis was an enjoyable story. I liked Annessa and Casey and liked their story. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'd consider trying more of her work.
Annessa is a wedding planner in LA. She grew up in a small town in Georgia with her twin sister, Vanessa, and an older brother, Travis, who pretty much raised them after their parents died. Travis' BFF, Casey, helped raise Annessa and Vanassa and once Annessa got old enough, she fell for Casey and wanted more. When he refused her push for more (when she was only 17) she decided to move away to LA.
Casey is the police sheriff for his town in Georgia. Casey entered the military when he was 18 but also helped to raise Annessa and Vanessa before that and when he was on leave. When he left the military, he joined the police force and has been hoping that Annessa would come home ever since.
Annessa was working a wedding when she saw a murder and ran. She didn't think anyone had seen her so, (under and alias) she booked a flight home. Annessa told everyone that she came home for Vanessa's engagement party but she actually came home to regroup while she figured out what to do. Annessa, Vanessa and their friends hit the bar to celebrate and the booze pours a bit heavily causing Casey to get a call to break things up. Casey is surprised to see Annessa home but is happy to see her and hopes he can get a chance to talk to her about what happened between them 7 years ago.
Basically, Annessa and Casey clash a bit but they have a strong mutual attraction which makes it difficult to ignore each other (not that Casey wants to). There's a lot of back and forth as Annessa tries to push Casey away, apparently deciding that since he rejected her at the age of 17, they can never have anything in the future (or if they do, it will mean certain heartbreak for her). Casey wants to convince her that they could have something and works on it. Unfortunately, it ends up that danger is stalking Annessa and she doesn't have sense enough to tell people when stuff starts happening. Fortuitously, the issues get too big to be covered up and the danger to Annessa comes out. Casey works to protect Annessa while trying to win her and things seem to be going well once the danger is taken care of. Unfortunately, Annessa is a bit of an idiot because she almost ruins things. Thankfully, Casey gets some good advice and doesn't allow her to ruin things after all and they end the story starting on a HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story overall. Annessa was a mostly likable character but she was a bit annoying at times. The main thing that bothered me was that I just couldn't see how she came to the conclusions she did and why she was determined to end things the way she tried to. I was actually heading towards a 4 star rating for this story but Annessa's confounding attitude and her actions at the end definitely brought it down for me. I liked Casey as the hero. He could have been a bit stronger when it came to Annessa but I still liked him. Overall, the story was pretty good.

Tattoo My Heart Heroes of Seaside Point Book 1 edition by Mia Dymond Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Tattoo My Heart by Mia Dymond is a contemporary romance. Ms. Dymond has delivered a well-written book. I love the characters and the humor in this story. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Casey is the town sheriff. Annessa stayed away from town to avoid Casey. Their story is packed with drama, humor, smokin' hot sex, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Tattoo My Heart and would be happy to read more from Mia Dymond in the future. Tattoo My Heart is book 1 of the Heroes of Seaside Point Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Was there a book prior to this one? It felt like you jumped into the middle of this, reading deals that I have no idea about. I felt lost in the beginning. Didn’t feel skipped around was told in both p.o.v. But with additional of her brother Travis and his lady friend the doctor, Verity.
Casey knew Annessa for as long as he was her brothers’ best friend. But he’s been in love with her for 12 prior to the time in this story. He broke her heart when she was 17, then she ran from her home, family and friends. Now she’s back home but with trouble following, and she wants Casey to protect her and take care of the men that followed her from CA to GA but she won’t sacrifice her heart again to him. Can Casey convince Nessa that he’s in for the long run with her or will she run from love?
OMG this hero is beyond YUMMMMMMMMMMY. He is the local Sheriff and he is definitely an "arrest me now" kind of hero. WOW... Even his firemen buddies are beyond words. All live in a small town and all friends. One buddy has twin sisters. They are the good twin and the bad twin. Bad in the sense that she just gets into and causes a lot of trouble. Just sort of a wild child.
She returns home in Georgia from California to be in her sister's wedding. That is what everyone believes. however, this time she is in serious trouble and she is not sure why...yes she witnessed a murder or rather the body after the murder but she really knows nothing beyond that. she is a wedding planner and she was running the wedding day events when she stumbled on the body and 3 guys standing over the body. Did not recognize any of them. And is not sure they even noticed her. however, the wedding was for the daughter of a big mob boss criminal, so anything is possible. she leaves town after receiving her payment for services from the father. It turns out to be a diamond bracelet, not the check she was expecting. She figured it was a thank-you for pulling off the happy event, puts it on and leaves town undercover of a false ID.
SPOILER ALERT---this heroine got on my nerves. #1-She leaves town and goes home to where her identical twin lives, knowing that if trouble follows it is not only her behind that can be in trouble but this never occurs to her.
#2 Once she receives threats, she is going to handle these guys on her own. Now the FBI, local and state police, etc. cannot nail them with anything and they kill for kicks but she, with pepper spray, is going to bring them all down. DUMB
#3 She has sex on the beach, not intercourse but everything else, but when they return to the house, she is going to show him who is in control and make him sleep on the couch. What is she? 13? Just a dumb thought.
#4 These two have been dancing around each other for 7 years, this time she has been home he has done everything but have intercourse, he didn't have protection! But does he go buy some? Nope, he just keeps dancing around her. Come on guy, you are losing me!~! One last thing, there is a HEA however, her last little stunt at the end of the book just takes the cake. You run after something for 20 years, catch it, then decide nope, not going to do this. Her reasoning was just stupid and immature. I didn't get it. This gal is a flake of the first order. Spoiled? I don't think I would have called it that. BRAT yep, I could go with that. I wish the Sheriff had just let her go!! Would have served her right.
This was a good story with lots of adventure and hot sex scenes. I get so put out with the heroine and her dumb, immature thoughts that I am having a hard time getting beyond them. Then I think about that yummy law official and want to give it 5 stars on him alone. I would recommend the book, I'm sure others will find her behavior ok, so I would suggest you read and decide for yourself. it certainly is NOT a waste of time.
